Have you ever wondered what the travelers in 1849, the gold rush area, might have experienced when traveling along the roads to Yosemite?

Those days are long gone, but you can still say at a historical spot call Smith Station.

George Sprague and John Smith, early Groveland settlers, built one of the largest barns in Tuolumne County. This barn served as a stagecoach stop. It is still there for you to see.

The ranch called Big Creek Meadow Ranch still runs about 20-30 head of cattle and about 150-200 head of sheep.

It is one of the most popular guest sites
in Groveland.

With its scenic views of Smith Peak and the pastoral meadows surrounding the ranch house and gardens brings back the old west.

You can still spend a night or two on this working ranch.
